Breach of Notification Requirements

If you have been convicted of some types of sexual offences, you will be made subject to a notification requirements (the sex offenders register). The period you will be subject to notification requirements depends on the sentence you receive.

Within three days of being made the subject to the requirements, you must must make an initial notification to the police which includes (amongst other information): you date of birth, national insurance number, home address, bank details, bank cards and passport.
You must also notify the police of any changes in these details. If you are released from prison, even if the reason for being in prison has nothing to do with a sexual offence, you must notify the police upon release.

Failure to comply with the terms of your notification requirement can result you in being prosecuted under the Sexual Offences Act 2003, section 84(1)(a) and Section 91(1)(a).

The communication can take the form of a letter, email, audio recordings or even a voice note.
